Happily Ever After

“Once upon a time..” so every well known fairy tale has to start, and with “Happily ever after” we suppose they must close.
If we think about the original versions even of the most famous fairy tales, they’re much more bloody and vicious, with the main character much less stereotyped, than the dominant sweetened Disney’s versions, so stretched out towards the immobility of the happily ever after ending, which was not automatically the conclusion of all of them.
In this exhibition the four artists, Luiza LaPupazza, Mary Syring, Natalia Saurin and Stefania Pedretti, interweave their artistic path thanks to the fairy tales imaginary and fantasy, following the purpose of going over the recently stereotyped images of the delicate and fragile heroines, emblems of virtues like beauty, sweetness, obligingness and patience. Those well known images here are coming to us now like reflected by a deforming mirror, attempting on re-invent a new ending, which will not find his solution in the forever, to whom is deceitfully conferred the power to anesthetize the angst for the future.
Being exposed since early age to the Forever ideal, we use the Fairy-tale like cuddle, a kind of consciences sleep, in a reality where the imposed models are quite often unattainable, forcing us in a senseless research of perfection, like illusionist warranty of the eternal happiness. In this exhibition, between smiles and magical ambiances, can be the irony of a askance look to open the tale to new perspectives: so Snow-white, free from innocence and forced candidness, can explore new ways to get her own happy end.
