Amniotic Dream

solo show by Luisa Catucci LaPupazza

3rd Oct / 7th Nov 2009

Ranging from mythology to contemporary subculture, the works of Luiza LaPupazza combine classic, illustrative elements with photography and digital collage.
In her photo-paintings, models -often tattoed and pierced – are juxtaposed with historical and mythological references, bringing the roots of Western culture into a contemporary format.  Her photography and illustrations are laced with both psychological and pop-cultural references, while maintaining a pointed, art-historical context by virtue of their medium and composition.
This exhibition presented the works serie “Myth&Legends”.
The characters represented were inspired from the Ancient Greek and Ancient Roman mythological tradition.
Goddes, Muses, Ninfees, Spirits, who lived for many years in those areas and their essence were for centuries the very soul of those places and habitants. Even if their role became merely mythological with the advent of Christian’s Cult and Catholic’s Church, somehow their Being “survived”, through litterature, art, archeological exhibit and even through the spirit of the the people self.
